Paper, pigment & permanence
Choosing the right paper is half the painting. Here is what I look for and why it matters.
A painting is only as enduring as its foundation. In my studio, every piece is created on 100% long-fibre cotton rag paper — acid-free, neutral pH, and mould-made.
Cotton fibres absorb pigment deep into the matrix without buckling under heavy wet washes. When properly framed behind UV-protective museum glass, an original gouache will preserve its original hue and velvety vibrancy for generations.
When you hold an original work or unbox an archival print, you are holding the physical manifestation of craftsmanship that took centuries to refine.
